Chic, Cool, Disco Inspired Wedding Style
1970's style is everywhere, and not all of it 'boho.' Forget flower crowns and macrame; this is Dua Lipa channeling Biance Jagger, not Woodstock! Think smoked champagne glasses over Pampas Grasses, and super sleek disco glamour over festival florals.
Bianca and Mick. Donna Summer. Diane Von Furstenberg. Dua Lipa and Callum Turner at Marylebone Town Hall. That's the mood board. And at the centre of it all, one beautifully cut, crepe jumpsuit.
With bridal jumpsuits going from strength to strength for modern, style conscious brides, photographer Catherine Kerr of BOHO CHIC WEDDINGS and I created the concept for a city centre styled wedding shoot that would put our shared love of a bridal jumpsuit centre stage, surrounded by the timeless language of all night dancing, the disco ball!
Styling a City Centre Wedding: Studio 54 Disco Inspiration
With both of us being 70's babes, Catherine and I wanted to pay homage to the fun, expressive, cool, carefree New York disco scene that we loved, interpreting the elements that never failed to excite and translating them into a look that you can easily steal for your own wedding day, all the while avoiding the kitsch elements of 70s fashion and embracing the sleek.
Working alongside wedding planner and stylist Emily K Weddings, we built our look around mirror balls, Monstera leaves and an elegant palette of white, green and gold.

Wedding Venues in Manchester City Centre: Why We Chose The Castlefield Rooms
The venue had to work for our Studio 54 disco inspired, sleek, chic concept. We wanted strong New York style urban credentials, plenty of beautiful natural light, and enough clean, open space for our stylist to really go to town.
The Castlefield Rooms set in the heart of Manchester's canal basin, delivered on every front. The exposed industrial architecture plus an accommodating venue team made this space number one on our priority list.
If you're looking at wedding venues in Manchester city centre and want something with an urban edge that can flex from disco glam to understated elegance, then The Castlefield Rooms are definitely worth a visit.
What to Wear for a City Centre Wedding: The Bridal Jumpsuit Trend
For a city centre venue like The Castlefield Rooms, a jumpsuit felt right in the way a traditional ballgown wedding dress never would. Clean lines, modern, and comfortable enough to dance the night away in. For this shoot Catherine and I fell for the Carson jumpsuit from the much missed design house of Charlie Brear (rumour has it that this brand is soon to be resurrected as THEWN, pronounced The One, in late 2026). Luckily for us Millie at The White Closet bridal boutique in Didsbury, just up the road from The Castlefield Rooms, had the design in stock, along with a pair of sparkling Jimmy Choos and some of the sharpest fitting skills in the business!

Accessories for a Disco Wedding: How to Accessorise a Bridal Jumpsuit
A bridal jumpsuit offers a clean, sharp silhouette, which means your accessories carry a lot of visual weight. Choosing delicate, subtle hair pins to accessorise your wedding hairstyle, or a pair of 'barely there' earrings, in this instance, would be to do a disservice to your confident, style driven, choice of outfit. So if you're wearing a bridal jumpsuit, I say - go bold with your accessory choices!
We styled our bridal model in the AMINA Crown, a handcrafted wedding headpiece featuring glittering spires of gold crystal and ivory pearl set on a lightweight wire headband. This design carries enough 'take your breath away' visual impact to hold it's own under a disco ball.
And to ramp up the power of the look even further, adding a set of the AMINA hair pins, brings the kind of extra sparkle that we live for!

How to Accessorise Naturally Curly Bridal Hair
Our model Carole's natural, kinky, afro curls were central to the decisions we made for this look. With her fabulous cascade of hair, full of texture and movement, the pressure was on to choose hair accessories that worked with her look, and not against it.
If you're wondering how to accessorise your own naturally curly, kinky, or afro bridal hair, then the answer is to avoid shallow accessories that get lost in the cascades. Scale really matters when working with volume.
The AMINA Crown, like other full headpieces from the Glorious by Heidi collections, has been designed with enough height and presence to remain completely visible and visually striking when styled against big, textured hair - which is why I chose AMINA for this shoot.
This is a hairstyle for black brides that I'd love to see more of. Natural texture, celebrated; accessorised with designs that compliment rather than compete with the hairstyling, and worn big and proud!
The Details For This Studio 54 Inspired City Centre Wedding That Made Our Hearts Sing!
Our favourite elements from this styled wedding shoot were the smoked glass cocktail glasses, the deeply 70s inspired profiterole desert tower, artichokes cleverly used to lift a purely green bridal bouquet to iconic status, and of course our smoking hot bride and groom!
Emily of Emily K Weddings coolly took mine and Catherine's enthusiastic, scattered ideas for this style wedding shoot, and nailed them in a single moodboard, which then briefed our stationery and decor collaborators, Papercutt Designs and Extra Special Touch.
Jen Eachus Hair and Makeup Artist, expertly worked on the look for this shoot, completely understanding the fashion led 70s disco diva styling we'd hoped for for our model Carole Kikeba.
Florist Sam Williams of the Wildfire Floral Co., delivered big time on the pared back 'no flowers' floral arrangements we'd been dreaming of for months! Fern and Monstera leaves stood in beautifully and structurally for traditional blooms, that had no place in this super cool set up. Artfully placed artichoke heads were the surprising star of our bride's wedding bouquet, leaving us wondering why we're not seeing them used much more.
And of course no self respecting Studio 54 disco inspired concept would be complete without a touch of neon. Stacey at our fave wedding lighting specialists, Love Lights the Way, brought a rosey glow in the form a of a pink neon heart 💖
