'Look at the stars, look how they shine for you...' Cold Play

If you and your partner have a love that was written in the stars then the current wedding trend for all things celestial is a theme you should be definitely shooting for!

From sparkling gowns, to stars and moons in your hair, crescent moon backdrops and cake toppers, or using your star signs on your wedding day stationary, there are almost as many ways as there are stars in the sky to give your wedding day a celestial theme.

Here are a few of my faves.

Shoot for the moon and stars with your hair accessory

I was always going to start with your hair accessory wasn't I?!

Just as the stars encourage us to look up at the night sky, wearing stars and moons in your hair encourages your friends and family to look up and be enchanted by the finishing flourish to your wedding day look. (Yes, model Kennedy is wearing fairy lights in her hair in this photo! And isn't the effect fabulous?!)

And if a full headpiece, a la my Luna crown is too much of a statement for you, then scatter a few twinkly stars and moons hair pins through your wedding day hair for a subtler, but no less eye catching, look.

Choose a wedding dress that's out of this world

Celestial detailing was everywhere in 2019, and that trend looks to be going nowhere fast in 2020.

Bex Brides ethereal bespoke tulle overdress, glitters with gold and silver stars, while Lillian West's delicate fit and flare gown features shooting star beaded details and bell sleeves. Eliza Jane Howell does celestial with a 1920's flapper style for all you vintage loving brides, and if none of those styles scratch your night sky itch, Willowby by Waters, Natalie Wynn and Galia Lahav all offer their own starry eyed visions.

Paper Moon

Stationery doesn’t end with your invitations, finish it all off with a gorgeous order of service, a stylish table plan, place cards and menus at your table with a celestial theme carried through all of those bits and pieces. Those smaller details will round out your styling and let your guests know that your love is truly cosmic!

Twinkle twinkle with your wedding day lighting

Neon letters from Love Lights the Way

Neon letters are so ridiculously hot right now, apart from anything else because you can have them spell out words that mean something personal to you and your partner.

Try 'Love you to the moon and back.'

'You light up the sky.'

'We were written in the stars.'

Almost as many choices as there are stars in the sky!

And letting your ceremony twinkle has never been easier with a bit of creativity using battery operated LED lights. Fill coloured glass, paper stars, and mason jars with lights and arrange them on tables, to line walk ways, hang in trees, from rafters and anywhere you want to bring subtle, romantic, celestial light.

Heavenly mouthfuls

As if I wasn't going to include cake! Ask your designer for a cake that reflects the colours of the night sky, a star or moon shaped elements, or a cake that uses you and your partner's star signs as it's theme.
